*Expanded Learning Time:  Making Every Minute Matter*

Grades 5-8; 310 students

Mission: to provide a strong academic program rooted in the history of Plymouth, Massachusetts. Our students will harvest opportunity from the practice of language, the reasoning of mathematics, the analysis of science and the reflection of history. We want children to hone skills through rigorous studies, but skills alone do not make a whole education. The Rising Tide Charter Public School will also cultivate within its students a sense of belonging to our community, a tie with those who have come before them and a seed of continuity between the Plymouth of today and the Plymouth of tomorrow…

Rising Tide features:

• Exposition, where students explore topics within the context of the Plymouth region, culminating in a day of presentations*

• Academic support and enrichment activities that complement core program

• Inquiry- and skills-based approach to teaching and learning

• Community structure and practice, including advisory, for students to take increasing responsibility

• Process-oriented approach to school design and decision-making

*Study Tour will include an in-depth examination of this asset

This spring, three schools will offer FREE full-day study tours focused on Expanded Learning Time (ELT).  Schools interested in improving their practices around enrichment, academics or instructional improvement should attend.

Each study-tour will feature:

    * A school overview
    * An examination of benefits, challenges, and successes of ELT
    * A school-specific workshop focused on a key ELT practice
    * Dialogue with school leaders, staff and collaborators
    * Networking with other participants
    * Action planning

   * City on a Hill Charter Public School –April 30

 The ELT Study Tours are part of a project supported through a dissemination grant Boston Preparatory Charter Public School received from the MA DESE.

Substitute reimbursement is available to district schools that send teachers.  Please send teams of two to five educators.
